Melinda's Announcement

Posted on my my weblog on the 19th of January:

Eldan and I are getting married.

He'd said that he wanted to wait until after he passed the qualifier to propose, and so he did- last Friday, the day after finding out the results. There wasn't much fanfare about it, no white horses or roses or shiny objects; just me, and Eldan, a cold evening and a quiet place. I couldn't be happier.

The rings we're wearing are only placeholders until we get some other ones made. We don't know when the actual wedding will happen, or where, or any of that- we'll figure that out after we move to wherever we're going to be moving this summer. The wedding isn't really the point, anyway (though I'm sure it'll be a fantastic party).

There are so many questions to answer, but we'll find the answers together. Right now, we're just walking on air.

I proposed on Friday, and she said yes. Though we had been talking about this for a while, and there was no element of surprise at all, I was still very nervous when it came to actually saying those words. I suppose that shows how much it means to me, which is as it should be.

As yet, we don't have a date, or a location, because we also don't know where we'll be living 6-7 months from now.

We do both have rings, though they may not look quite as you expect. We will get each other more... permanent rings in due course, but I really wanted the talking between us and the telling all of our families to precede the buying of metalwork.
